Handling the Holidays: Free Lectures and Workshops at the Spreckels Center

The end of the year is coming fast, and with it, an abundance of holiday celebrations. For some, those days can be emotionally challenging, and offer temptations that can tip the scale in an unwanted direction. If you are looking for guidance and goodness, then join the John D. Spreckels Center for two free presentations to help you ease gently into the 2019 holiday season.

On Thursday, November 7, 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the John D. Spreckels Center will host a free Grief and Loss Workshop. The holiday season can be difficult to cope with when one has experienced the loss of a someone dear. Rather than being a time of joy and togetherness, the holidays can bring feelings of sadness, loss, and emptiness. This workshop will provide guidance, support, and coping tools to those dealing with grief.

In ‘Mindful Eating During the Holidays’, a Sharp Coronado clinical dietitian will teach you how to pay attention to the eating process, savor food, and control unhealthy habits so that you can enjoy the holidays without regrets. This free presentation takes place on Thursday, November 21, 2:30 to 3:45 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided.

To sign up or receive additional information, stop by the Spreckels Center at 1019 Seventh Street, call (619) 522-7343, or visit online at www.coronado.ca.us/spreckels.
