Coronado Churches’ Walk of the Cross
Good Friday, April 19, 5pm
Coronado Churches’ Walk of the Cross begins at the Baptist Church on the corner of Orange Avenue & First Street.
Sponsored by the Coronado Council of Churches, this ecumenical observance of the crucifixion of Jesus will feature ten minute scripture reflections and prayers at each of the member churches, with participants walking from site to site behind a cross.
The “Walk of the Cross” begins at Coronado Southern Baptist Church (111 Orange Ave) at 5pm on Good Friday. It then moves to the following churches: First Baptist Church, Resurrection Lutheran Church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Coronado Community Church (at Spreckels Park), St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Christ Episcopal Church, Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, and concludes at Living Waters Fellowship.
This marks an occasion when Christians from across denominational lines come together to commemorate the central event of their faith, the death of Jesus of Nazareth and what it signifies for the world. Residents of Coronado and Imperial Beach, regardless of their religious affiliation, are invited to join neighbors in the Walk of the Cross and reflect on the meaning of that original “Good” Friday. For more information, call Rev. Steve Mather, Council President, at 619-437-8757.
