CHS Girls Golf: One Win, Two Losses Last Week

Last week, the Girls’ Varsity Golf team played against four different opponents in three tough matches. On Monday (9/10), the Islanders played a three-way match against Rancho Bernardo and Del Norte High Schools. Junior Crista Izuzquiza shot Coronado’s lowest score of 37 strokes, while Rancho Bernardo and Del Norte both took control of the match with respective scores of 199 and 209. Coronado’s score tallied up to 243.

Sophomore Samantha Lorr chips out of the rough against Cathedral Catholic to finish with 47 strokes.

The following day, the Islanders played their second league match of the season at home against Cathedral Catholic High School. With their star player Izuzquiza out, Coronado still dominated the match, 238-328. Senior Sabrina Ladd was named Medalist of the Match, with a low score of 42 strokes, followed by team captain Caroline Ward (46) and sophomore Samantha Lorr (47).

On Thursday, Scripps Ranch High School hosted Coronado at Torrey Pines Golf Course. Izuzquiza returned as Medalist of the Match, shooting two under par with 34 strokes. Ward and Lorr both shot 46 strokes, followed by Ladd who finished with a score of 50. Unfortunately, Scripps Ranch collectively shot 191 strokes, against Coronado’s 227.

The team’s current record is eight wins to four losses.
