  • Active Shooter Training: Active shooter training by both Police and Fire personnel will be held over the next several weeks on the campus of Coronado High School. The training exercises are designed to test and enhance the cooperation and readiness of our first-responders during an active shooter incident. The training will take place over the next few weeks. Public safety officials are informing the community in case you see a large amount of patrol and fire vehicles at the school.active shooter training
  • Stingrays, Warm Waters:  Coronado Lifeguards have treated a number of people who have been stung by stingrays in the past few weeks. The recent high water temperatures attract stingrays, who like to hang out in shallow waters near the shore. Coronado Lifeguards warn swimmers about stingrays, which tend to sting more people during low tide. They recommend shuffling your feet in the water to avoid stepping on a stingray and suffering a painful sting. If you are stung, it is best to seek assistance from a Lifeguard immediately.
  • Dog Beach Water Advisory: The City’s Lifeguards posted signs at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 1, that an advisory was issued by San Diego County health officials. The City’s water sampling contractor received an early, positive test result of enterocci bacteria from a sample taken at North Beach. The City shared the results with theCounty, which then advised posting an advisory 150 feet north and south of the sample location at the southern border of Dog Beach out of an abundance of caution. The City’s contractor sampled again on Thursday, August 2. Read more about the water advisory and see the complete City Manager’s Weekly Update, visit the city’s website.
