Chamber to Recognize Award Winners at Celebrate Coronado Event

The Coronado Chamber of Commerce is honored to recognize the police officers, firefighters, lifeguards and city employees who safeguard Coronado’s streets, houses, beaches and parks. In recognition of their hard work, the Chamber will host its annual community-wide celebration, Celebrate Coronado, to honor the city and all of its local heroes. This event provides the community with a unique opportunity to give thanks and celebrate on Wednesday, July 19 from 5-8pm.

“We can’t wait to have the community join us in this annual celebration of all things Coronado,” said Sue Gillingham, Executive Director at the Coronado Chamber of Commerce.

The event is open to the public and tickets are on sale now for only $65. The Chamber is also asking the community to help “Host a Hero” by purchasing a special $50 ticket so that a Coronado firefighter, police officer, lifeguard or city employee can attend this celebratory event, thrown in their honor, for free. “Hosting a hero is the perfect way to thank these hardworking men and women for all they do for us,” Sue Gillingham said. “It’s such a fun event each year, and we hope the community will help us recognize our heroes.”

This event includes the Chamber’s Annual Community Awards, including the local Police Officer of the Year, Firefighter of the Year, Lifeguard of the Year, City Employee of the Year and Naval Base Coronado Firefighter of the Year. Additionally, the Chamber will present their selected Volunteer of the Year and Lewis R. Hardy, Jr. Award for service to the community and induct their new 2018-2019 Board of Directors.
