The Coronado Chamber of Commerce is thrilled to be hosting the 42nd Annual Holiday Parade this Friday, December 1st starting at 6pm. Bands, floats and Santa himself make this parade down Orange Avenue fun for kids and families of all ages! The parade runs from 8th and Orange to RH Dana, and includes everything from VW vans to vintage cars and lowriders, Pop Warner Football players to cheerleaders, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, the Mayor and City Council, and of course, the Coronado High School Band. Plus, the parade wouldn’t be complete without Lil’ Mac, the fully restored fire truck #80 that answered the bell here in Coronado since 1939!
The parade runs from 6-7pm, but join the Chamber starting at 5pm for pre-parade festivities, including Christmas carols on the new piano at Rotary Plaza. Bring the whole family for some festive fun before the parade even begins! You’ll also have the chance to do some holiday shopping as that night is also the Merchant Open House, where all your favorite local stores stay open late until 9pm. You can also grab your copy of Coronado-opoly at the Visitor Center. Games will come wrapped and ready to go, courtesy of the Chamber of Commerce. It’s the perfect gift for everyone on your list!
“Our Holiday Parade is a holiday tradition for so many families,” said Sue Gillingham, Executive Director for the Coronado Chamber. “Every year just gets better and better…we sure hope to see you all there!”
The Chamber has partnered once again with the Coronado Police Department on their Annual Teddy Bear Drive. The Chamber is asking patrons attending the parade to bring a new stuffed animal to donate to Rady Children’s Hospital. Officers will be walking the perimeter of the parade for donations. The donation can be any type of stuffed animal, as long as it is new with tags still attached. The goal is 1,500 donations, which was met last year! Downtown drop-off locations for those who wish to donate in advance are: Coronado Bliss, Coronado Chamber, Coronado Eagle & Journal, CMG Mortgage, The Gensler Group, The Gondola Company, Glorietta Bay Inn, Miss Match, Men’s Mojo and Nicky Rottens. Donations are accepted through Monday, December 4th and participating locations are offering awesome raffle prizes for those who donate. Check the Chamber’s Facebook page for a complete list.
Additional handicap parking will be available this year in front of the Chamber’s office on the 1100 block of Tenth Street, right off Orange Avenue. The Chamber would like to thank EDCO Waste & Disposal for being the Parade’s title sponsor again this year. For more information on the Holiday Parade, contact the Chamber office at 619-435-9260.
