  • Coronado Cays Street Improvements:  Two separate street improvement projects in the Coronado Cays will begin soon. Combined, the two projects will result in all public streets within the Cays (except Antigua Court) receiving some form of rehabilitation work. Most of the streets will receive a slurry seal, but St. Kitt’s, Port Royale, and a small section of Bridgetown Bend will have all asphalt removed and replaced. Striping and pavement markings will be temporarily removed or covered so temporary signs and other traffic control measures will be deployed. The entrance to the Coronado Cays also will be affected by the work. Residential streets will be closed to traffic while maintenance activity is taking place; residents will be notified via door hangers and “no parking” signs ahead of any work adjacent to their properties. Work is expected to begin in early October and be completed before Thanksgiving. Check this flier for more information.

  • Bulky Item Pick-up Week: This year’s Bulky Item Cleanup Event will take place the week of October 2-6, and will occur on residents’ regularly scheduled residential curbside collection days. Place unwanted bulk items on the curb along with your regular collection carts by 6 a.m. These typically include broken appliances, water heaters, furniture, old mattresses (please wrap mattresses prior to setting out – special mattress disposal bags can be purchased at hardware stores or online), and other miscellaneous bulky household clutter. All yard waste will be recycled and must be bagged or bundled. Tree trimmings should be cut into 3-foot lengths and tied securely into bundles not greater than 18 inches in diameter. Debris from contractors, landscapers or commercial businesses will not be accepted. No hazardous waste will be accepted. Here is a link to EDCO’s website with more information.
  • C3 Gallery Student Exhibition: The annual school exhibition in the C3 Gallery in the Coronado Community Center opens October 4 and runs through October 25. The gallery will feature an exhibition curated and mounted by the Coronado High School Art Department titled “Head to Toes (and everything in between).” An artist opening reception is set for Wednesday, October 4, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Nautilus Room. The Cultural Arts Commission manages the gallery and exhibitions to display and promote the art of Coronado’s local creative community. Artist receptions are free and open to the public.
