Coronado Couture Milliner to Adorn Polo Spectators & Donate to Charity

Polo America Beach PoloPlanning to attend the beach polo match this September?

Marilyn Feldman is a couture milliner living in Coronado who would like to adorn the heads of those attending Polo America’s Beach Polo Cup event on Labor Day weekend. For all hats purchased for the polo event, Marilyn will donate 25% of that purchase to Polo America’s chosen charity, Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary Endowment for Neuroscience.

Marilyn says, “I look forward to participating and contributing to this cause as much as I am able to do so. Millinery is my avocation, although I was professionally trained. I am a social worker by profession so giving back to charity pulls at my heart strings.” Marilyn is listed as the “primo Milliner” with the Glamour Project charity.

Some of Marilyn’s millinery work was recently displayed in the 3D section of the Florals by Locals booth at the 2017 Coronado Flower Show. Her theme was Alice in Wonderland – Through the Looking Glass. For the Flower Show, Marilyn created two hats, both of which were adapted from vintage garments and restyled with new textiles and fabrics to meet the requirements of the challenging exhibit.

These hats are currently on display in the Coronado Public Library’s children’s section.

Quotes from Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass that illustrate Marilyn’s vision:

“If I had a world of my own, everything would be nonsense. Nothing would be what it is, because everything would be what it isn’t.”

“Sometimes I’ve believe in as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

Naturally, polo event hats could be stylish in a different way. The casual elegance of polo chic inspires hats that are classic, sophisticated, and oftentimes wide-brimmed for sun coverage. Simple adornments, or whimsical, you decide.

Visit the Glamour Project website where you can see many examples of Mariyln’s hats (99% of the hats on the website’s Portfolio pages are made by Marilyn, with the exception of a few donations or flea market purchases).

The price of the hat will be discounted to anyone who buys a ticket to 2017 Beach Polo at Hotel del Coronado. Marilyn will be in Coronado through the end of May and looks forward to working with you soon so that you can get the hat of your choice before she leaves.
