The street pole banner program consists of six different banner cycles, each on display along the Orange Avenue Corridor for a minimum of six weeks. The Council approved the second cycle for fall at its meeting this week.

Volunteer members from the Commission, the Tourism Improvement District, MainStreet and the Chamber of Commerce worked on an annual schedule, design standards and artwork for the banners on display along Orange Avenue from First Street to Avenida de las Arenas at the entrance to the Coronado Community Center.

City Patriotic BannersThe first series was installed in July with the “Star-Spangled Summer” series celebrating Coronado as a patriotic community. This series, “Fall for Coronado,” will be installed mid-September and feature images of all the award-winning attributes of the city. The remaining banner designs will include a holiday theme series, an arts theme series which will feature juried local artwork, a “History Matters” series, highlighting Coronado’s storied history and a “Spring into Coronado” theme highlighting annual iconic events that are held each spring in Coronado such as the Annual Flower Show and MotorCars on Mainstreet.

The Coronado Cultural Arts Commission believes that banners add vitality and color to the cityscape, invite residents and tourists to participate in activities and promote local events. All costs are funded through a Coronado Tourism Improvement District grant.
