SAN DIEGO — The “Chargers” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 14, the “Raptors” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron (HSM) 71, and Detachment (Det.) 4 from the “Providers” of Fleet Logistics Support Squadron (VRC) 30 are scheduled to return home to Naval Air Station North Island (NASNI) in San Diego Aug. 9 following a seven-month deployment to the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility with Carrier Strike Group 3 and Carrier Air Wing 9.
Throughout the deployment, HSC-14 personnel and MH-60S Seahawk helicopters were embarked aboard USNS Rainier (T-AOE 7) and USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).
HSM-71 personnel and MH-60R Seahawk helicopters were embarked aboard USS Stockdale (DDG 106), USS William P. Lawrence (DDG 110), USS Mobile Bay (CG 53) and USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).
VRC-30 Det. 4 personnel and C-2A Greyhound aircraft were embarked aboard USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74).

SPECIAL ACTIVITY ALERT: Naval Air Station North Island Helicopter Flyby
Naval Air Station North Island, Coronado, Calif. – At the request of the Carrier Air Wing NINE, and in support of the Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron Fourteen (HSC 14) and Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron Seventy One (HSM 71), the United States Navy will conduct an eleven helicopter fly-over of Naval Air Station North Island on Tuesday, August 9th, 2016. The helicopters, operating the USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74), will participate in “Home Coming” event fly-over. The aircraft are anticipated to overfly Naval Air Station North Island at approximately 6:20 PM at an altitude of approximately 1,000 feet above ground level. Local residents within the Cities of Coronado, Chula Vista, and San Diego can anticipate seeing the flight of eleven MH-60 helicopters approach the airfield from the south, over fly Runway 36 and execute a right hand turn down the bay toward the San Diego/Coronado Bay Bridge. The flight of eleven aircraft will separate in the vicinity of Fiddler’s Cove (Navy Marina), with HSM 71 landing on Runway 29 and HSC 14 landing on Runway 36.
