Chess has been dubbed the perfect teaching and learning tool. It’s not just a game of Kings, Queens, and Rooks, but more a lesson in quadrants and coordinates, thinking strategically and foreseeing consequences. It’s about lines and angles, weighing options and making decisions. Because of all that, the Coronado Recreation Department is offering a Success Through Chess Camp this summer the week of July 5-8. From 1:00-4:00pm each day at the community center, chess campers ages 7-14Â will play and learn new tactics of this challenging game. Fun will be had as they play challenges while increasing their ability to learn math, in spatial analysis, and with non-verbal reasoning.
