Here are all the boys with the Coronado Tennis Association in their, generously donated, uniforms from this year.  The boys really appreciate the support and were pleased to tell the CTA Board in person how much their support meant to them. CTA board members present from left to right. Greg Burnham, Chris Toogood Jennie Portelli (CTA President) and James Nelson. The CTA donates in many ways for the success of Boys and Girls tennis in Coronado.

The 2016 Boys Varsity Tennis Team has had a very successful season. They just finished the regular season with a 13-3 record overall and 10-0 in Western League earning the Western League Championship for the first time.  If this wasn’t enough, CHS Tennis sent Billy Rowe in singles and the doubles team of Gunnar Dutch and Bernardo Garcia to the Ojai tournament (the equivalent of the CA state individual championships).

The doubles team of Dutch and Garcia played well and went 3 rounds to the round of 16.  Rowe went all the way to the semi-finals and lost in a close 3 setter!  Combined they represent the best Ojai results from CHS in over 40 years!

Looking forward, this week is the CIF individual playoffs.  In the team playoffs, Coronado lost to Del Norte in the opening round 9-9 (they tied sets and lost by a single game).

On behalf of the Varsity Boy’s Tennis Team, thanks to all and see you at the courts!

Coach David Brummitt
