(Coronado, CA) Registration is now open for the highly anticipated 2016 Coronado School of the Arts [CoSA] Summer Intensive Program! Launched in 2014 in partnership with the Coronado Cultural Arts Commission [CCAC], the program garnered rave reviews and culminated in a finale performance open to the general public at the Coronado Performing Arts Center. The 2016 Intensive is expanding this year and offering three new programs! In addition to Dance, Film, and Acting, our Summer Intensives will now offer Visual Arts, Gaming, and Technical Theater! These are 3 week programs running July 11-29, 2016 and will be taught in the state of the art facilities of CoSA, located on Coronado High School’s campus. Each intensive program is designed to give the participant a “real life” snapshot of life as a professional in their area of interest.
The Dance Intensive, taught by some of the leading innovators in the industry will include multiple styles: Contemporary, Hip Hop, Ballet and Commercial Dance choreography. Classes are taught in a fast-paced, hands-on professional environment for conditioned dancers. The Summer Intensive final performance will be filmed before a live audience. This is great opportunity to expand your dancer’s repertoire and portfolio in a creative and interactive environment.
The Film program brings you into the professional world of independent moviemaking. Through the use of the latest HD Cinema Camera, a state-of-the-art Film/Broadcast studio and Premiere Pro editing and post production software, you will become a part of the producer’s unit and create a short film for worldwide online distribution and submission to film festivals across the country.
With our Acting/Screenwriting Intensive, participants will encompass both Stage and Film. This collaborative approach will include creating original performance pieces for both stage and on camera. Classes will be geared towards actors with professional ambitions in the area of acting. The guest artist lineup is still being secured at this time, keep checking the website for exciting updates. All participants will be featured in the live audience performance finale.
Our Visual Art Intensive is a full program that seeks to broaden students’ creativity and professional development skills by furthering their understanding of the world around them in a creative, supportive environment. This year, CoSA is excited to partner with the San Diego Art Institute (SDAI) to present this program. Students will be given hands-on training in several art mediums, in workshops facilitated by professional artists. Learning takes place not only in these workshops, but through lectures given by renowned local artists both onsite at CoSA and through the special opportunity to visit their studios directly. In addition to growing students’ artistic ability and technique, participants will receive professional development training in museum practices. This training, led by professionals in the art, museum, and gallery field, exposes students to new career paths and help crystallize their career goals.
The Gaming Intensive is a great opportunity for students interested in learning more about a career in the video game industry. Through a series of projects, students experience what it is like to be part of a creative studio making designs for a game. Fundamental drawing and design principles specific to this industry are discussed through slide show presentations, lectures, and instructor demonstrations. Students will have a great experience and the lessons learned will empower students to create with greater confidence.
The Technical Theater program will encompass the workings of a theatrical crew, ending in by students seeing their designs come to life during the final Summer Art Intensive performances. Students will learn many techniques, including designing for Theater and the philosophy involved, how to design and build scenic elements, designing program lighting/electrics, sound and projection. Students will spend time in professional theatres in San Diego County!
This is an amazing opportunity to expand your expertise and knowledge from industry leaders! All Summer Intensive programs are open to students from 13-19 years old. Space is limited and discounted tuition is available until April 30th. To register, for more information and to see updates, please visit www.coronadosummer.com or contact Tara Noonan at 619.540.4155
