Superintendent Felix Announces His Retirement July 1st

8416-JeffFelixsmallAfter working for 30 years in education, Dr. Jeff Felix, superintendent, announced his retirement during Thursday night’s school board meeting.  The 2015-16 school year will be Felix’s last as he will officially step down in June.  Click here for the text of his official announcement.

“Serving the Coronado Unified School District has been an absolute blessing,” Felix said.

Though he will no longer be a part of the district, the 62-year-old said he wasn’t giving up education for good. Felix plans to consult in the educational technology side of the business as well as help coach struggling superintendents.

Felix first began working for the district in 2008, taking over for Sue Coyle.  Before heading for Coronado, he also served as Superintendent for the Bonsall Union School District, San Pasqual Union School District, and Light & Life Christian School in Escondido.

Board President Dawn Ovrom saluted Felix for his service to Coronado.

“It goes without saying how much the board has appreciated your time and services with the district,” Ovrom said.

Ovrom also thanked Felix for giving ample notice, adding the district will work hard to find another superintendent that will be able to fill the position by July.
