We, the Coronado Scribes, consist of both professional and amateur writers. We have in common a desire to learn, by sharing our efforts and listening to other writers. We hold pressure-less sessions every Wednesday, at the Coronado Library conference room, starting at 1:30. Often we have guests who wish to just listen. They are welcome, and so are you.
Each week on eCoronado, we feature a different piece of prose or poetry produced by one of our writers. Please feel free to comment or ask questions in the comment section below.
A Lawn of My Own 6/9/14
By
Jerry Greenspan
Having found my shade,
I listened to a melodic conversation between two birds
That I can absolutely identify as “not” Crows,
I’ll spend the rest of my predictable life here.
It is not the Hawaiian paradise of someone else’s dreams,
Merely a space between high-end resorts,
Large enough to allow for a bit of privacy
And a welcoming breeze that bids me stay.
There are palm trees within reach,
One will serve as a backrest.
Tall, but uncertain as to which way is up.
The palms are reminiscent of a poorly designed haircut.
There is no definable temperature,
But it might pass for somewhere between warm and comforting.
Harmless white fluff pushed by the trades,
Give character to the otherwise bluest of skies.
