Coronado Unified School District’s Crown Preschool currently has openings in its three-year old morning program. Opened in August 2013, Crown Preschool offers the community a quality education setting and the opportunity for families to enhance the developmental process for their children. From the block area to the garden or from the art easel to the snack table, the children’s time at Crown Preschool provides valuable moments where they can develop the problem solving and social skills needed for success in kindergarten and beyond. Swiss developmental psychologist Jean Piaget claimed, in order to think things through, children need to play things through. Guided by the Early Childhood Education professionals at Crown Preschool, the children’s confidence and competence will flourish as they think things through with others in their peer group.
Crown Preschool’s three-year old program holds classes from 8:30 to 11:30 each morning. Enrollment options are 2 days, 3 days or 5 days per week. The curriculum is based on the California Preschool Learning Foundations and Common Core Standards. Each class is taught by a teacher holding a multiple- subject California teaching credential as well as a child development preschool permit. All of Crown Preschool’s teacher assistants also hold the California child development preschool permit. Enrichment opportunities include Visual and Performing Arts, Science, Music and Movement, Math, Technology, and Language and Literacy. An extended day program is available starting at 6:30 a.m. and concluding at 6:00 p.m. For more information, or for a tour of the preschool, contact Kathy Mathis, Director of Preschool and Child Care Services, at (619) 522-8940 or [email protected].
