Coronado Halloween 2013 Activities and Events – Happy Nado-Ween!

Halloween on Coronado starts today with a haunted house put on by the City of Coronado followed by a costume contest held at the Coronado Library. Then, later in the week, Orange Avenue will transform into “Downtown Goes Ghostly” in the afternoon, followed by trick or treating all over the ‘island’. Get all the details below and have a fun and safe Nado-Ween!

October 25th (Friday):
Known to scare more ghosts and goblins west of San Diego Bay, the Coronado Recreation Department’s Annual Haunted House will be up and spooking on Friday, October 25th.

Located in the Coronado Community Center (1845 Strand Way), “This Haunted Circus” will be “the scariest show in town” with a maze of side shows and adventures “under the Big Top.” As its name suggests, it is meant to scare all who enter it. It is available from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for preschoolers and their parents and from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for adults and children of all ages. The Extreme Haunted House opens its doors from 7 to 9 p.m. for teens and adults to enter. Beware.

Along with the Haunted House at the Community Center, the Recreation Department is hosting its annual Halloween Happening from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, October 25, which includes carnival games, mons-terrific crafts, jumpees, a tot lot and food and beverages. Wearing costumes is highly recommended. Tickets are available for purchase at the Halloween event.

For more information on The Haunted House or the Halloween Happening, contact the Coronado Community Center at (619) 522-7342. The location is at 1845 Strand Way.

October 25 (Friday): Halloween Party at the Coronado Public Library:
6 p.m. to 8 p.m. includes a costume contest, carnival and pirate band. Location is 640 Orange Avenue. Get more details by calling: (619) 522-7390

October 30 (Wednesday) at McP’s Irish Pub (1107 Orange Ave):

October 31 (Thursday): Free Burgers & Drinks for Kids at Burger Lounge
Burger Lounge Coronado (located at 922 Orange Avenue) will be supplying a ‘kids burger and soft drink’ to all kids under 12 years old – how is that for a treat? Details.

October 31 (Thursday): Downtown Goes Ghostly:
From 3:30p-5:30p – all of the businesses on Orange Avenue hand out candy and other treats. The sidewalks are absolutely packed with little kids (most under 12) and their parents as they go business-to-business to collect their goods.

October 31 (Thursday): Trick or Treating in Coronado Neighborhoods:
From dusk until the candy runs out! For the older kids, visit Margarita Avenue (photo below) for even scarier decorations & special treats. Read the story about the Margarita Monsters here.

Lastly, let’s remember to welcome all ‘trick or treaters’ to the island whether they are local or not.
