With the tumult of his U.S. Anti Doping Agency proceedings in his rear view mirror, Lance Armstrong returned to the sport that bore him, and did it in classic Lance fashion. Walking to his racked bike at the 34th annual SuperFrog Triathlon Sunday, Armstrong prepped for the race wearing a requested athlete number on his arm: seven. As in, the number of Tour de France wins he amassed. And the number that the USADA officially stripped him of.
No matter to Armstrong. In homage to his predecessorsmen like Scott Tinley, Scott Molina and Mark Allen that he raced with back in the 1980s, Armstrong took part in the in the same outfit he wore as a kid racing those contemporaries: in a Speedo. And just as he did as a kid, Armstrong took control and took the victory beating Australian Leon Griffin to the line by nearly two minutes in a course record 3:49:45.
