CHS Football Gets First Win over the Rock Academy 33-3

Thanks to Coach Tony Isabella, CHS Varsity Head Coach, for providing this recap.

We scored our first victory of the season with a 33-3 win over the Rock Academy on Friday night. Mason Copp started his second game at quarterback. With Offensive Coordinator Cote Perkins game plan Mason was able to lead our team with timely runs and passes. Mason scored two touchdowns. One from 2 yards out and the other from 3 yards. Ryan Halvorson had 90 yards rushing on 12 carries and also two touchdowns. The first from 29 yards the second from 9 yards. Robby Weissenfels led the team with 126 yards on 14 carries. On one particular run he hurdled one player while avoiding another potential tackler. Robby also had two field goals. One from 31 yards and one from 41 yard field goal. The defensive team was able to limit the Warriors to a field goal. Cornerback Gabe Granados came through with an interception to stop a possible Warrior touchdown.

The win was a complete team effort. We start league play with a Friday night home game vs La Jolla HS. Head Coach Rey Hernandez and I were freshmen teammates at St. Augustine many years ago. I/we look forward to seeing him and his Viking team this week.
