Coronado Boathouse and Club Room Grand Opening / Festival Day

(September 11, 2012) The City of Coronado is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Coronado Boathouse and Club Room, a new 5,000-square-foot facility on Glorietta Bay that is about to bring paddle sports to the community.
The celebration for the new Boathouse and Club Room begins at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 27. Coronado Mayor Casey Tanaka and the Coronado City Council are expected to cut the official ribbon to welcome the community into the Coronado’s newest bayfront recreation venue. The festivities continue Saturday, October 6, with a Grand Opening Festival that the whole family can enjoy. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., adults, teens and children ages 8 and older can try kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding. There will be refreshments, prizes and activities for children, teens and adults as well as boating presentations.

On the evening of October 6, Recreation Services will host Coronado’s first-ever “Paddle in Movie, where families can bring their lawn chairs and blankets to watch a movie from the Boathouse patio or from the sand. Experienced kayakers are invited to watch the movie from their personal craft in the bay as long as they have a lifejacket and a light.

The newly released “The Pirates! Band of Misfits animated feature will be shown on a big screen in front of the Boathouse. The film tells the story of a pirate captain and his crew’s swashbuckling journey to try to win the “Pirate of the Year Award.

Everyone is invited to attend the Boathouse and Club Room ribbon cutting and grand opening events, which will be held at 1985 Strand Way.
