Coronado Yacht Club redevelopment project moving forward

CORONADO — A $13 million redevelopment project at the Coronado Yacht Club is moving forward after it received a green light from the San Diego Unified Port District last week.

The privately funded project includes a new club house, 108 new boat slips and additional parking at 1631 Strand Way in Coronado.

It requires the demolition of the club’s existing structures to create a larger sailing facility, a maintenance shop and a multipurpose building. Boat slips would increase to 372 from 264. The yacht club also hopes to expand its youth sailing instruction programs open to both members and the public.
