Coronado Power Outage in Tweets & Photos

Reminder, you can sign up to get ’emergency alerts’ from the county San Diego. We received one regarding the blackout that was very timely. Here is the link: http://www.sdcounty.ca.gov/oes/ready/signup.html

Kris Hanson snapped this ‘blackout’ photo of downtown San Diego from a very dark Coronado.

From impromptu block parties, to playing boardgames in a candlelit room, Coronado residents kept great attitudes during a massive blackout that knocked out power for up to 5 million people in California, Arizona and Mexico. We did hear some ‘negative blackout comments’ from NFL fans that missed watching the opening season game and folks that wanted to try out Nicky Rottens – yesterday was opening day for them! The power was out from around 3:30pm to 11:45pm on 9/9/11.
