Rotary Club Launches Flag Campaign to Support Fallen Veterans

Crossing the Coronado Bay Bridge and into the ‘island’ of Coronado is like being beamed directly into the canvas of Norman Rockwell painting. Sunday concerts in the park, picnics at the beach, bicyclists ruling the roads, mom and pop shops along Orange Avenue, Navy SEALs training up and down the beaches and signs shouting ‘Welcome Home Daddy’ adorn homes post deployment. Most of all, American flags are flying high from block to block across the community. What better place to launch a fundraiser that combines Coronado’s patriotism with their support for families of fallen heroes.

The Rotary Club of Coronado is launching a six-month fundraising campaign to support families of fallen veterans. The Rotary Club of Coronado has partnered with a locally owned and operated University Blanket & Flag to sell American flags and donate all proceeds to the families of our fallen heroes. The campaign started on Flag Day and will end on Veterans day. The goal is to get a flag on every front door in Coronado.

There is no stronger or more patriotic community than Coronado. The Rotary motto is ‘service above self’ and there is no better representation of that then the troops that lay down their lives for our country. Being able to raise funds by selling flags and seeing residents flying them in town will honor their service. We encourage every home in Coronado to fly their flag to support this event.
