Time to Renovate the Senior Center!

Your presence is requested at Tuesday’s City Council Meeting!

Our Senior Center, located on Orange in across from the park, is visible to all. It should be the pride of our community. It is not. In fact, the non-descript little building next to our beautiful library was originally used as an equipment maintenance facility by the City.

Seniors, and soon-to-be seniors, are happy to hear the news about Tuesday’s City Council meeting because City Manager Blair King plans to ask the city of Coronado to obligate funding amount from the redevelopment agency for the refurbishment of the building now known as the Senior Center.

Coronado’s over-50 population is growing and the “boomer-bulge” has created more need. I don’t know how many Coronado citizens are currently over 50, or how many are in their 40’s, but there probably are a lot of people in town who will benefit greatly from a modern, energetic senior center. A reasonable funding amount has been requested by the seniors for this purpose.

The present small building is old and run-down. Major expansion and repair work is long overdue. Seniors have contributed greatly to the beauty and growth of our community, so please let our city know on Tuesday that you support them.
