At the risk of making a lot of doctors, nurses and all the Sharp Hospital employees upset, we are going to share a secret spot right in the hospital. Also, please know that our job is to inform the Coronado public and get the word out around town, so if there is a secret surf spot, secret handshake, secret discount code, secret item not found on a menu, etc…don’t share it with us.
The other day, an eCoronado.com member mentioned to me that there is a wonderful cafe located at Sharp Hospital. She said that very few people know about it, but she wanted me to try it out. I tried to inform her that I try my best to stay away from hospitals (and their cafeterias) and I wasn’t planning a trip to Sharp anytime soon. She replied that if I wanted to try ‘great soup’ for under $2, I should go NOW. Ok, she had me at ‘under $2’…
So, we went to the ‘Coronado Cafe’ at Sharp Hospital and ordered a cup of potato soup and the beef tostada. My total was less than $6 and it was honestly very good. Now, the ‘cafe’ does resemble a ‘cafeteria’ and there were a lot of folks in scrubs, but overall, it was a very pleasant experience. The people were friendly, the food was tasty and the prices were outstanding. I think this would also make a great ‘take-out’ place to stop by from time to time.
