Fee-based preschool moves ahead in Coronado

Coronado’s superintendent has been given the green light to further explore the development of a fee-based preschool that would open in fall 2011.

The Coronado Unified School District’s board voted unanimously Thursday to continue researching the proposal for Crown Preschool.

If approved, the school would be marketed to parents as a “running start” for children who want to graduate from Coronado High School, where graduates often go directly to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard and Yale, said Superintendent Jeffrey Felix in his initial pitch.
