Coronado Village Theatre Renovation Sneak Peek (Photos / Video)

Thanks to Lance Alspaugh, of Five Star Theatres, for allowing eCoronado.com to snap some photos and video of the Village Theatre – we haven’t been inside for over 10 years! Mr. Alspaugh was there this morning giving a tour so that companies could put together a bid for the renovation project. You can read an earlier interview that Mr. Alspaugh gave that sheds more light on the details of what the renovated theatre will be like.

The theatre is planned to open in March June 2011 – we will give you updates as they happen. We can’t wait to get our theatre back open here in town! Here is a photo and video tour of what we saw:

Front of the movie theatre from Orange Avenue. Corner of 8th and Orange.

View of the theatre from the back side (Union Bank parking lot adjacent to D Avenue).

Rusty seats and torn movie screen.

More seats and view of door that opens up to parking lot behind the theatre.

One of two wall murals and close up of the damage to main screen. Stairs lead to exit and bank parking lot.

You can see the springs in many of the seats.

Closeup of the mural near the left front of the theater. There are two different ones on either side of the screen.

Decorative design above the main entrance to seats/screen.

Looking out towards Orange Avenue. This is the main lobby of the theatre.

Concession stand in the main lobby. We are hoping for a broader menu in when the new theatre opens!

Looking towards the main lobby from Orange Avenue double doors.

Mural on the wall in the main lobby.

Stairs leading up from the main theatre to the projection room. This was a bit spooky going up…

Inside the projection room.

Other side of the projection room where we saw numerous film reels and a place to rest after starting the movie.

Movie posters line the floor of the projection room.

We are so excited that the renovation process has started and we look forward to bringing you updates as we get them.
