Avenue Subs is now open. Most of you know that Avenue Liquor has been going through a lengthy remodel both expanding their liquor store and building out a corner of the store that will serve fresh oven-baked subs as well as other menu items including: soups, salads, baked wings, burritos and more. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe that all four liquor stores on Coronado have some type of deli operating within the property. Perhaps Subway will start selling liquor…probably not.
When you go inside, be sure to check out the flat screen menus that electronically display menu items and specials. The menus are run by Microsoft Powerpoint and is a very creative way to make changes and offer daily specials. Ok, I was ‘geeking out’ just a little bit over the menus.
They have a daily $5 foot long sub special. Today’s special was a foot long roasted turkey and cheese. Let me start by saying that I was a little hesitant about getting my sub from a liquor store, however, after my first bite, I was convinced that I will be buying more sandwiches from Avenue Subs in my future. It tasted very fresh and the service was excellent – it certainly didn’t feel like I was in a liquor store!
