The Coronado Firefighters will be having their Annual Spaghetti Dinner to raise money for the Burn Institute on Sunday, July 11th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Fire Department Headquarters Station: 1001 Sixth Street.
Come one, come all! There will be Burn Run T-Shirts, a Raffle, a Silent Auction and the flyer is attached below (suitable for framing, emailing, printing out and posting around town, etc.!)
We’ll even pack your dinner to go for you and you can take it across the street to the Concert in the Park and hear the Navy Band Southwest: https://coronadotimes.com/profiles/blogs/coronado-summer-concert
The San Diego Burn Institute does great work and we are proud to support their efforts. You can learn more at their website: http://www.burninstitute.org/
Did you hear the sirens rolling through town last Saturday, the 19th? That was the Annual Burn Run coming through town to pick up the Coronado Firefighters’ donation to the Burn Institute on their way to the San Diego County Fair (formerly known as the Del Mar Fair) for the Fire Expo.
At this year’s Fire Expo we had an extra treat as the Burn Institute brought back an old favorite: the Firefighters Demolition Derby! You can see a clip of the final showdown with the seven cars which made it through the first three heats at their Facebook page: ( http://www.facebook.com/christinesimages#!/pages/Burn-Institute/104210426094?ref=tshttp://www.facebook.com/christinesimages#!/pages/Burn-Institute/104210426094?ref=ts ). The Coronado Demo Car had an electrical problem that took us out of the running (literally!) near the end of the first heat. But as a result, we suffered minimal damage and might be able to fix it up to use it again! We have it on good authority that the Firefighters Demolition Derby will be back next year! Be sure to be on the look out next June for the Burn Run/Fire Expo and join us at the San Diego County Fair NEXT time!
The Burn Run/Fire Expo used to be held later in the summer when it was held at Qualcomm Stadium, but now that it’s part of the County Fair it actually comes before our traditional Spaghetti Dinner date. We opted to keep our traditional dinner date so you can take advantage of the free concert as well. You might have also noticed us out around town with our fire boots for the County “Give Burns the Boot” drive a few weeks ago. All of that money also went to the Burn Institute.
The Coronado Firefighters would like to sincerely thank all of our wonderful sponsors who have supported us for both of these events–be sure to thank them for us next time you’re in as well:
