A magnitude 4.3 earthquake occurred beneath the seafloor off Rosarito Beach Tuesday night, producing shaking that was briefly and lightly felt in the more populated areas of San Diego County, the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake began 44 miles southwest of San Diego at 8:57 p.m. and came five minutes after a 3.6 quake snapped beneath the sea floor roughly four miles off Coronado. That quake also was felt on land. It’s unclear whether the first event influenced the second.
