That’s just what Rex Butler, Brennan Casey, Andrew Ireland and Tommy Schofer did in the boys 200-yard freestyle relay at the Division II swim finals Saturday in their own pool.
“They’d been talking a little bit about it during the season,” Islanders coach David Throop said. “We actually decided at the prelims. They were all in on that. If it happened, great.”
Coronado (1 minute, 25.97 seconds) broke the mark (1:26.59) set by Mt. Carmel in 1993.
Butler also repeated as a double champion in the 50 free (20.84) and 100 free (45.81), and Ireland defended his crown in the 200 free (1:42.30) and added another in the 100 back (51.34).
