  • FEMA Flood Maps:  The Federal Emergency Management Agency has posted proposed flood hazard determinations to its website after receiving public input. The maps were initially released in February for comment and now also contain areas near the Coronado Shores. The revised maps, if finalized, will become the basis for the floodplain management measures that Coronado must adopt, or show evidence of having in effect, to qualify for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program. Before this happens, FEMA must provide the community and City officials with a 90-day period to appeal the proposed flood hazard information. Anyone who believes his or her property rights will be adversely affected may appeal. FEMA is required to publicly notify the community with a notice in the local newspaper. If you have any questions, FEMA directs property owners to call (877) FEMA-MAP (336-2627 or email [email protected].
  • Downtown Goes Ghostly is set for Halloween, Tuesday, October 31. Merchants in central downtown will welcome trick or treaters with treats. Bring the family. Coronado MainStreet sponsors the event and will set up a cauldron at Coronado Rotary Park to collect entry coupons for a drawing for Coronado Currency for purchases in town.
  • Spreckels Park Restroom Vandalism:  The sink in the east-facing accessible bathroom unit at the new Spreckels Park restroom facility was vandalized sometime Friday, October 20. It was smashed apart and torn from the wall, rendering the unit unusable. The restroom will remain locked until a new sink is ordered and installed. The City asks the community for help in observing parks and public restrooms and reporting any of the kind of senseless vandalism seen in the image below to Public Services crews. Please report any damage to Coronado Police at (619) 522-7350.

  • Coronado TV:  The City’s local government channel, Coronado TV on Channel 19, on Spectrum Cable has been having technical difficulties in the past few weeks. If you have been watching, you may have noticed no sound and a bad picture quality, or nothing on the screen at all. The City is working with Spectrum officials to figure out a fix. A part was replaced this week but did not fix the issue. The City thanks the community for its patience.
