CHS Girls’ Golf Loses Two Away and Wins at Home

This past week’s match series for the girls’ golf team resulted in some challenging play. Coronado went up against the No. 3 seed in CIF as Cathedral Catholic High School hosted Coronado at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club. With a good amount of penalty strokes, the final score was 258 strokes for Coronado and 196 strokes for Cathedral.

Similarly, Wednesday’s match against Rancho Bernardo resulted in another loss for Coronado, due to the many penalty strokes. Coach Gordon commented on the difficulty of the Bernardo Heights course as it has many out-of-bounds areas. The final score was Coronado 237 to Rancho Bernardo’s 202.

For the last match of the week, Coronado hosted La Jolla High School at our home course. This match took a turn for many of the girls, as they were able to pull through with an impressive score of 216 strokes to 256. No penalty strokes were hit, and Crista Izuzquiza was named medalist of the match with a score 38 strokes. Lauren White shot a personal best for the season, shooting a total of 39 strokes.

The season record is now 9 wins to 7 losses.

Next Week’s Matches:
