Actor Milt Kogan, who portrays the doctor tasked with breaking the news that E.T. is dead, will be at on hand at the Village Theatre on Wednesday, March 29 at 5 p.m. to talk about his experiences on the film with director Steven Spielberg, and the enduring legacy of one of the most beloved films of all time. Kogan has led a busy double life in Hollywood for many years, both as a practicing physician and a successful actor, often cast as – no surprise here – a doctor.
Spielberg was 36 in 1982 when the film opened, riding high on the successes of Jaws and Raiders of the Lost Arc. E.T. became the highest grossing film of all time until Spielberg broke his own record in 1992 with Jurassic Park. E.T. is part of the continuing Festival Classic Movies Series sponsored by the Coronado Island Film Festival and the Village Theatre.
Tickets are just $5 and can be purchased now at the Village Theatre box office.
Former Coronado City Councilman Phil Monroe and Kogan played varsity basketball together at Cornell University some years back and have remained friends since. Monroe and his wife Fran and Kogan’s wife Sue will also attend the screening. Joining them will be another Cornell schoolmate and longtime friend, actress Lael Jackson, who lives in North County.
