Coronado Schedules Installation of Over 75,000 Watts of Solar Energy

Residents answer local challenge with last minute rally Sullivan Solar Power has announced the success of Phase I of their widely discussed Community Discount Program. This first phase ended on September 1 and surpassed the 70,000 watts (70kW) milestone, resulting in a 7.5% discount on top of state and federal incentives to residents opting into the program. On June, Coronado resident Dan Sullivan and his team announced their vision for Coronado to be the 1st city in the nation to be powered 100% solar electricity. The community embraced the program and the first phase closed with a total of 76.8kW scheduled to be installed on the roofs of 20 Coronado homes. In the last few hours of phase 1, over 20kW worth of contracts were sold, pushing the Community over the 70kW milestone. Collaboratively, the community saved over $45,000 in Phase I of the discount series. These new systems will increase the amount of solar in Coronado by 25% and will move the City’s rank from 142nd in the State to 123rd for number of solar roofs. “Coronado is truly a unique City, and the success of this phase of the program along with the outstanding community support shows that. But this is just the beginning, we are just getting warmed up!” said resident Dan Sullivan, founder and President of Sullivan Solar Power. Local firefighter Jamie Edmonds has been a community advocate, pushing Coronado to go solar. “It’s every bit as much the comfort of knowing we’re not causing more coal to be dug up and burned as it is knowing we’re doing our part to be part of the solution,” he recently said. To continue enticing the City to go solar, Sullivan Solar Power launched Phase II of the program, which began September 2nd and runs until December 1st. On Saturday, September 12, Sullivan Solar Power announced the new discount rates that will be offered for Phase II. In the second phase of the community discount program, resident incentives are as follows: 70kW sold receives 3.75% discount, 100kW receives a 6.25% discount and 150kW receives an 8.75% discount on their installation. “Phase II of the program is designed to get the City to unite even more around the vision of a 100% Solar Coronado, and to work together toward the larger goal, reaping benefits along the way,” said Sullivan. Sullivan Solar Power will host its next seminar on September 12th at 1:00PM in the Coronado Community Center (Sand Dollar Room).
