Day at the Beach

Thought this was a cute story …

Dear Friends –

Here’s our day…

“Grandma wanta go to the beach ?”

Three hours later the pack horse was ready. Boogie boards, sand buckets, shovels, towels, wipes, diapers, chairs, umbrellas, you get the picture ! I was ready for a nap and I wasn’t even close to getting out the door. Oh wait SUNBLOCK ! My daughter would send me to “the home” if I forgot that. Okay off we go… two blocks away from the beach Britt has to go potty,

“Not to worry you can go in the ocean when you get there,” I said.

“GRANDMA that would be polluting the ocean & killing the fish, I can’t do that!”

Really….well Britt here’s the way I see it, you have three choices, we go back home, you hold it, or we find someone that cares. At this point I’m in obvious need of my estrogen patch. I am now carrying one grandson, (the one that told me he didn’t use a stroller anymore) my body temperature is somewhere between roaring hot flash & heat stroke. I think I still have everyone, there should be 4 of them,

and they’re now all tired and hungry.

Are we having fun yet ? By now a root canal is sounding appealing.

We finally arrive at our destination, but we obviously forgot to make reservations…the place is packed, body to body. I am way over dressed…the throngs on my feet were covering more than what was laid out on the beach for display to fry in the sun. I thought they didn’t want you to have plastic on the BEACH !

Of course by the time we unpacked Brant was already asking if it was time to go home.

I can’t remember at what point the life guard told me how amazed he was that 6 small children stayed all in one place and played for hours with-out moving, upon a closer look he realized they were buried waist high in sand – works perfectly, I know where everybody is. Yes he did say 6, not sure who the other two were, all I know is- they did as they were told, ate the sandwiches, and I covered them in sun block.

Inventory on the way home – no umbrella, it blew away and landed pass the Dell in the “don’t even think about crossing this line” navy training area. Towels three lost, three gained, (towels I’d never seen before), boogie boards, shovels, sand buckets etc. Who knows? Whatever was attached to one of the kids arrived home.

Oh and yes 4 grandkids, who we really won’t be sure are ours until all the sand is removed.

Don’t you just love the beach ? There really isn’t anything like it, nature & nurture all at it’s best….you haven’t lived until you’ve experienced, an ” I love you hug,” from you’re child or grandchild that smells like the sea, covered in sand, mixed with zinc oxide, lathered with sun block, hands full of shells, and tastes like sea weed…………………the very best !!!

I’ll write again soon, xo Me
