USS Reagan Update from Japan

Friends of the Navy,

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with our close friends in Japan as they recover from the devastating earthquake and Tsunami that struck their country last Friday.

I know some of you had the opportunity to embark USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76) as part of our Distinguished Visitor’s Program. Today, helicopters from REAGAN conducted search and rescue missions along the coast of the affected area and delivered water, blankets and food to earthquake survivors. In the coming days, REAGAN will serve as an afloat platform for refueling helicopters from the Japan Self-Defense Force, Japan Coast Guard and other civilian authorities involved in rescue and recovery efforts ashore.

http://www.navy.mil and http://www.facebook.com/usnavy have additional details about the work REAGAN, and our other ships, are doing as part of the ongoing humanitarian relief operations in Japan.
