Hunt takes SURFOR helm from retiring Curtis

SAN DIEGO — Vice Adm. Richard Hunt took the reins of the Navy’s surface fleet during a ceremony Friday. Hunt, who has served most recently as commander of San Diego-based 3rd Fleet, assumed command of Naval Surface Forces and Naval Surface Force Pacific from Vice. Adm. D.C. Curtis.

Curtis, a 1976 graduate of the Naval Academy, is retiring from the Navy after a 35-year career and three years overseeing the surface fleet at its headquarters at Naval Base Coronado, Calif.
