ParkLife Holiday Decorating Contest – Entries Close Dec. 14th

It’s that time of year again! Turkeys, tinsel and the Third Annual ParkLife Coronado Holiday Decorating Contest!

Each year after Coronado residents enjoy scrumptious Thanksgiving leftovers, they go to their yards, bringing the magic of a “white” Christmas to the beach. Spectacular light shows, life size nativities, iconic movie décor and more bring the streets to life, signifying the monumental change into the Holiday Season.

We invite one and all to join in and submit their exterior holiday decorations to the ParkLife Coronado Holiday Decorating Contest.

Decoration Categories

Feel free to decorative in any creative way that strikes your fancy, and Coronado, you always impress! We’ve have noticed that most of the decorations fall into one of three categories. We tip our hats to those who bridge between multiple categories, as well as those who push the boundaries to be a category all on their own.

But for those looking for a little inspiration, start with one of these three categories:

Traditional

Classic, yet stunning every year, these traditional decorations are everything you imagine when gearing up for the holidays. Beautiful icicle lights, colorful light displays, bright candy canes and a few arctic animals in the yard adorn these homes.

Unique

From the leg lamp in the window to the army of gnomes in Santa hats to the shrine honoring the Nightmare Before Christmas, these homes get points for thinking outside the box. Those passing by wouldn’t be surprised to see an upside down Christmas tree or young boy with a Red Rider BB gun integrated into these decorations. Maybe someday we will even see a life sized ginger bread home in the yard. That would just be scrumptious!

Extravagant

These homes outdo even the Whos in Whoville! With full-lit choirs, the entire fleet of reindeer propelling Santa, Frostie’s entire family and more candy canes than all of Candy Cane Lane, these homes go all out in spreading holiday cheer. For fun, pick them out as you come into Coronado from the bridge.

Start Decorating!

So saddle up, dig out those dusty decorations and enjoy our balmy 70 degree winter decorations as you give new definition to what Christmas looks like in Southern California. There’s no better time to start decorating for the Holidays, so turn on some festive jams and get your home ready for the Holiday Season!
