Coronado Turkey Trot 2019 to Benefit the Chadwick’s Center at Rady Children’s Hospital

For the sixth consecutive year, the Coronado unit of Rady Children’s Hospital Auxiliary is hosting the Coronado Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning, November 28. All net proceeds go to Rady Children’s Chadwick’s Center, offering programs and services that provide for the prevention, identification, and treatment of abused and traumatized children, as well as women impacted by domestic violence. Turkey Trot sponsorships are now being accepted, and registration for participation is open at www.CoronadoTurkeyTrot.com.

On Thanksgiving morning, hundreds of people join together to “move your feet before you eat” to support a division of Rady Children’s Hospital. Last year the Coronado Turkey Trot raised $70,000 for the Copley Psychiatric Emergency Department. This year’s goal is to raise $75,000 for the Chadwick Center, one of the largest hospital based child advocacy and trauma treatment centers in the nation.

The Coronado Turkey Trot is a family-friendly, timed 5K, with awards for males and females in age categories ranging from 7 and under to 80 and above. Runners, walkers and strollers (both kinds) are welcome. The race starts and ends at Coronado’s Tideland’s Park, with runners beginning at 8:00am, and walkers at 8:15am. People are encouraged to register early at www.CoronadoTurkeyTrot.com as the race sells out every year.

New this year will be a Coronado Turkey Trot costume contest. Participants with the best Turkey Trot attire and/or accessories will win a prize!

“The Turkey Trot has become a family tradition that we all look forward to,” says Coronado resident James Peterson. “It feels good knowing, on Thanksgiving especially, that we are raising money and awareness for such a great cause.”

Registration for the 2019 Coronado Turkey Trot is found on www.CoronadoTurkeyTrot.com. All registrants will receive a custom-designed t-shirt, and a customized medal commemorating the 6th Annual Coronado 5K Turkey Trot. Children will also receive the popular turkey hats in their race packets.

“The auxiliary would like to recognize this year’s top sponsors so far,” says Turkey Trot chair Cathy Brown, “who will help us reach our goal of donating $75,000 to the Chadwick’s Center.” Special thanks to premier sponsors The Allan and Lyndsey Arendsee Family Foundation and Coronado Fitness Club.

There are several sponsorship levels available for the 6th Annual Turkey Trot. From a $2,500 Platinum Sponsorship to $100 Bronze Sponsorship, every dollar helps reach the $75,000 goal. With support, we can ensure that the children of our area will experience the highest caliber of care and a enjoy a healthier future. To make a tax-deductible donation, please contact Cathy Brown at [email protected], or checks can be made out to RCHA-Coronado Unit and mailed to Cathy Brown, 1330 Orange Ave., Suite 317, Coronado, CA 92118.
