Nixle Alerts for Beach Closures in Coronado

Dear Mayor & Council, City Manager and City Attorney:

We are a coalition of local civic organizations and citizen advocacy groups dedicated to different causes, but sharing many mutual interests and goals. One of our mutual goals is to promote public health & safety. Beach closures from sewage contaminated water related to our regional trans-border sewage crisis are a serious public health & safety concern. Nixle is a platform designed to keep citizens “up-to-date with relevant information from local public safety departments.” Coronado Police Department (CPD) is a local public safety department.

We ask that City of Coronado and/or CPD issue Nixle alerts for beach closures in Coronado.

Thank you in advance for your consideration of this request.

Sincerely,

Coronado/SD Bridge Collaborative for Suicide Prevention
Coronado Ladies For Change
Citizens Against Sewage
Surfrider Foundation
Coronado Residents Against Poop (CRAP)
