  • Hotel del Coronado Construction: The City of Coronado approved a master plan, a long-term expansion, for the Hotel del Coronado in 2003. The plan, which was modified in 2010, includes an underground parking structure on the north side of the property, as well as an under underground parking structure, 144 guestrooms, and a 20,000-square-foot conference center on the south parking lot. Work has been contemplated for many years. Construction fencing has been installed on hotel property and the community will begin to see evidence of the work soon. As expected, there will be construction impacts around the property for some time.

  • Silver Strand Fencing Improvements II:  California State Parks began the long-awaited second phase of the Silver Strand Fence Replacement project to upgrade the fencing along Silver Strand State Park. Crews will begin work on Monday, September 24, and should wrap up work by early November. They will begin at the State Beach entrance and move south toward the Navy’s Coastal Campus. State Parks will manage this phase. Following the bidding process earlier this month, a contractor was selected. The City managed the first phase. The northern portion of the project was completed in February 2017. The new fence is a visible improvement for the area. It will replace an existing, dilapidated chain link fence. A 30-foot trial fence will be installed and reviewed by State Parks, Schmidt Design Group and the City to ensure the appearance is as expected.Silver Strand fencing
  • Bridge Lanes Reconfigured: You may have noticed that the concrete traffic barrier used to configure lanes on the San Diego-Coronado Bridge was arranged this past weekend the same way it is arranged during the week. The City has requested that the weekday configuration be continued on weekends to help ease traffic congestion in town. The California Department of Transportation confirmed that it has begun moving the barrier on Saturdays and Sundays for a period of up to three months.
