Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori to Visit Christ Church

June 3, 2018 8am-11am

If you watched the Royal Wedding or the news following the joyous event, perhaps you caught a glimpse of the Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, the Most Rev. Michael B. Curry. His simple but passionate message of love brought an American twist to the most traditional English service. Why would he have been invited to preach and what is his connection to the Church of England? As constituent member of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we Episcopalians are descendants of, and partner with, the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, and are part of the third largest group of Christians in the world.

Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori

Prior to the installation of Bishop Curry, Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori served as head of the Episcopal Church. Bishop Jefferts Schori was the first woman Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church and the first female primate in the Anglican Communion. She is renowned for her work during her tenure and graced the cover of Time magazine in 2017 as one of the “women who are changing the world.” She is presently serving as Assisting Bishop for the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego and she will be visiting Christ Church on Sunday, June 3 for our annual Bishop visitation. She will preside over both the 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. services as well as speak at the 9:00 a.m. Adult Forum.

Christ Church invites you to share this special Sunday with us as we celebrate our faith. We hope you take the opportunity to learn more about the Episcopal Church where all are welcome no matter who you are or where you are in your faith journey. We believe that God loves you – no exceptions. Christ Church is located at the corner of Ninth Street and C Avenue. Parking is available in the church lot directly opposite the campus on C Avenue. For more information you can contact the parish office – 619-435-4561 or www.christchurchcoronado.org.
