Coronado Playhouse presents The Rollers – in Concert, on Friday December 29, 2017 at 7:00pm at Coronado Playhouse. Considered San Diego’s premier Beatles tribute band, The Rollers were founded in 2011 by the band’s bassist and vocalist, Martín Martiarena, then a student at San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. Since, the band has been in constant demand, playing frequently all over southern California, primarily in San Diego at Qualcomm Stadium, countless private functions and appearing on TV.
Playing for one night only, The Rollers will perform hits from The Beatles career, spanning from 1963-1970, including irresistible classics such as Let It Be, Hard Day’s Night, Hey, Jude and I Wanna Hold Your Hand. Dressed as The Beatles, The Rollers’ set includes two costume changes from their early career to their appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show, culminating in the Abbey Road era. The Rollers are recognized not only for their excellent musicianship but also for their skill and dedication in recreating The Beatles’ distinctive sound note for note. The Beatles are widely regarded as the foremost and influential act of the rock era and are still the best-selling band in history with more number-one albums on the British charts and having sold more singles in the UK than any other act. It spawned the song-writing partnership of John Lennon and Paul McCartney who together wrote over 180 published songs, including Yesterday, the most recorded and performed song in history, which earned its place in the Guinness Book of Records with over 1,600 cover versions by 1986.

Fundraiser:
The Rollers’ concert performance is a fundraiser for the Playhouse’s upcoming production of Next to Normal, running May 25-June 17, 2018. Mr. Martiarena is Music Director for the production and wanted to use his talents in one area to help support the other.
“This is an outstanding opportunity for me. The concert is a combination of my two passions: musical theatre and rock music! I’ve been playing theatre as long as I’ve been a member of The Rollers and the two have always coexisted in my life.” Mr. Martiarena added, “The Rollers have opened for shows at Coronado Playhouse in the past and the audience responses are always exciting and positive. We’re extremely excited to headline and play this incredible music that will have everyone dancing and singing along!”
All funds raised from the event will go to offset production costs of Next to Normal, an ambitious and challenging work, to be directed by Chad Oakley.
Tickets are $20 (general admission) and are available through Coronado Playhouse’s Box Office at (619) 435-4856 or online at www.CoronadoPlayhouse.com.
