Coronado High School’s ASB Election Results Are In

Every year, students campaign and run to be a part of the executive commission of the Associated Student Body (ASB) of Coronado High. Preparing for the next school year, campaigning starts in the second semester, and the student body votes for candidates to fill the different positions. Applicants must submit their applications, along with teacher recommendations, by the deadline and are then interviewed by a panel consisting the ASB President, ASB Vice President, and senior class officers. Those who are accepted have the opportunity to run for office. Coordination from both the ASB Advisor, Mrs. Nicole Belong, and applicants is then needed to publicize campaigns around campus.

The first week of elections consists of voting for Executive Commissioners of ASB. On Friday, April 7, a compiled series of videos from the candidates for the different offices was played throughout campus prior to the voting. The purpose of these videos was for the candidates to send out their message to the student body. The candidates addressed topics, such as changes they would make in office, and how they would improve life on campus as a whole.

Coronado High School ASBASB Executive Commission

The first position to be filled on the Executive Commission was the ASB President. This president is essentially the representative of the entire student body. Micah Grim was elected to be next year’s ASB President.

The second position on the Executive Commission was the ASB Vice President, whose responsibility is to aid the President in communicating with the student body and taking leadership over all school events; ASB Vice President went to Eric Schnell. Voting for the other officers then took place. Brayden Austin was elected Commissioner of Athletics, and Brendan Chapko was elected Commissioner of Spirit, the primary role of these two is to run the pep rallies. Avery Dozier was elected Commissioner of Finance, in charge of ASB’s budget. Jett Lundblad was elected Commissioner of Student Store, in charge of design and products sold in the Student Store. Madison Shanks was elected Commissioner of Dances, in charge of helping organize the dances. Sophie Troilo was elected Commissioner of Publicity, in charge of communicating with the student body through social media. Commissioner of Outreach went to Emma Cleveland.

ASB Class Officers

The following week, class officers were up for election. The candidates visited voters’ classrooms to publicize their campaign, and students were able to vote online.

For next year’s senior class, Delaney Davenport will be President. The Vice President is Johanna Warner and the Treasurer is Emma Sandke. Even after the senior class graduates, this class president is responsible for keeping the class informed on all events involving their high school reunions.

In the junior class, Michelle Brucker was voted President, Amy Schafer voted Vice President, and Redding Hillers voted Treasurer. These officers have been given the task of organizing prom, which is one of the biggest dances of the year.

Cole Mullins was voted sophomore class President, Kendall Chapko voted sophomore Vice President, and Andrew Larratt voted sophomore class Treasurer. The sophomore class will be primarily in charge of organizing the winter formal.

ASB Advisor, Mrs. Belong, is eager to work with this energetic group of students in making next year full of school spirit and action.
