Each week, the City Manager’s Office provides an update that includes information on programs, services and issues within the City, as well as news, project updates and follow-up information when necessary.
Get up to speed on what’s going on in Coronado with this video preview of the latest edition of the Coronado City Manager’s Weekly Update and some bullet points below. Read more detailed information on the City’s website.
- Coffee Cart Concession: The City’s coffee cart concession has reopened outside the Coronado Public Library. Amalo Brew opened for business Monday, September 12, and began serving coffee and other beverages, as well as fresh and prepared food such as fruit and bagels. The new concessionaire, Alex Malo, has more than 20 years in the food and beverage industry, including most recently operating a coffee cart. Hours vary as the concessionaire gets a feel for customer demand.
- San Diego Waterfront Park Event: The County of San Diego has notified the City of an annual music festival at its Waterfront Park, on Harbor Drive in downtown San Diego, on the weekend of October 1-2 from noon to 11 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Organizers expect 15,000 people. Questions can be directed to the County of San Diego Department of Parks and Recreation at (619) 232-7275. Complaints or concerns regarding the event can be directed to the event’s Community Relations Manager Christian Clark at (619) 356-0478 or [email protected].
- Turf Maintenance: With the end of the summer concerts at Spreckels Park, Public Services has begun some its annual grass maintenance. Parks crews started sectioning off areas of the park that will get special care and treatment today, September 12. They will apply a top dressing of new soil throughout the park, and over-seed some of the thinner areas. One particularly brown area, which will be closed off with caution tape while the seeds establish, is the west side of the gazebo, directly at the base of the stairs. A section at Glorietta Bay Park also was sectioned off while the grass grows back after heavy summer use from the summer day camps. Thank you for your patience as the City allows the grass to rest. The closures are expected to take from 4 to 6 weeks.
