The Coronado Recreation Department has exciting opportunities for children who love to perform! Starting with a Musical Theater Class for 3rd through 8th graders. This is a chance for children and teens to dance, sing and act in a full production of “Disney’s Cinderella.” This timeless “rags to riches” fairytale stars Cinderella, her wicked stepmother, stepsisters, a prince, a fairy godmother and a small colony of mice. Budding actors will gain confidence as they participate in speech, creative movement and improvisation activities in the Recreation Department’s Club Room at Glorietta Bay Park. Participants will take the show from page to stage with practices twice a week from 3:30-5:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays. Creating sets and acting are all a part of the class. Auditions for “Disney’s Cinderella” will be held at the first class on Wednesday, October 12th. Performers must register prior to October 12th to participate in the Disney’s Cinderella Musical Production. Performance date is set for December 12th. Everyone who registers gets a part.
Younger performers can sign up for the Jr. Musical Theater Class which will also be held in the Club Room at Glorietta Bay Park starting October 12th. There, from 2:15-3:15pm on Wednesdays, Kindergartners (TK & K), first graders and second graders will be introduced to the performing arts. Junior actors will develop their speaking skills, build their confidence, enhance their social skills and inspire their creativity as they sing, dance and act their way through a variety of drama games, activities and exercises.
