Coronado’s Paris Henken, along with teammate Helena Scutt, is one of the featured athletes in the in depth sailing film Uncharted Waters debuting July 4, 2016.
Paris and Helena recently posted on their Sailing to 2016 facebook page, “We are honored to be part of this unprecedented feature-length look inside the US Sailing Team Sperry, presented by Sunbrella.”
Uncharted Waters, a documentary presented by Sunbrella, is a feature-length film exploring the challenges, triumphs, and motivations of US Sailing Team Sperry athletes, as well as the profound beauty of the sport of sailing. The film will offer audiences unrivaled access inside the national team, and explore the unique circumstances that have compelled American sailors to pursue success on the international stage. The film was produced by Sunbrella, a US Sailing Team Sperry Gold Partner and the leading supplier of performance fabric to the marine industry.

The action footage that is featured is some of the best in our sport.”
The film focuses on the journey of national team sailors competing in both Olympic and Paralympic boat classes, and was shot on location at racing venues in North America, South America, and Europe. For the sailors portrayed in the film, the project has taken on great personal significance over nearly two years of filming.
Paralympic Sailor Hugh Freund noted that the production team’s focus [was] on making the story approachable to non-sailors. “I think it really helps that the filmmakers were not heavily involved in the sailing world beforehand because they bring a perspective capable of peering in to our world with wider eyes than we could,” said Freund.
