KPBS COVERAGE OF BIKE LANES

The KPBS video of a few members who are against bike lanes is misleading. The people appearing before the City Council in that video do not represent the consensus among residents. If the City Council truly wants to determine what that consensus is, a city-wide survey and a request for residents to send an email to the engineering department would help determine resident attitudes. Bicycle riding is growing and Coronado is perfect for that mode of transportation. The trend towards alternative forms of transportation will increase. The key will be safe bike riding enforcement of safety such as wearing helments and having lights on bikes at night. Ensuring bike riders respect pedestrians is also necessary.
