First Financial Literacy for Millennials Workshop is Tonight

This month, CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional Jane Braun will guide young Coronadoans in building wealth and securing their financial futures through a course called “Building Wealth: A Student’s Guide to Securing Your Financial Future.” As the mother of five young adults, all of whom graduated from Coronado High School, Braun is passionate about inspiring the millennial generation to connect their purchasing power and earning potential. The workshops will run for 90 minutes on each Wednesday evening in August and will cover the basics of financial literacy, including savings options, retirement accounts, beginning a portfolio, ownership vs. loanership, utilizing credit and the perils of taking on debt. The class, offered at no charge, begins on August 5 at 5:30 pm at Tent City. Refreshments will be provided.

Braun has over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry. A graduate of San Diego State University with a master’s degree in Business Administration, she encourages young adults to take responsibility for securing their own financial futures. With four of her five children finished with their undergraduate degrees (her youngest is expected to graduate in 2017), Braun is a longtime advocate of higher education, including mastering financial literacy. She spent five years managing her own financial practice in Coronado and previously worked as a senior financial advisor at Chase Bank. Braun is on the board of the Rotary Club of Coronado, the Coronado Historical Association and the Coronado Chamber of Commerce.
